    • For more information, please read the updates here.
    • Note: Gaining employment from offshore is challenging unless there are family or friends in New Zealand willing to guide you. For job search tips, refer to our blog.
    • Applicants are also advised to check for fake visas, scams, or offers from unlicensed agents to pay for job offers. Regularly check the Immigration New Zealand website.

Work Visa for Partners of New Zealand Citizens or Residents

Partners of New Zealand citizens or residents are eligible for an open work visa if they are in a genuine and stable relationship. The onus is on the client and the sponsoring partner to provide evidence of the relationship. This open work visa allows the partners to work for any employer in any position. In general, without the evidence of living together in a genuine and stable relationship, partnership based work visa can be challenging and most applicants would prefer first applying for a partnership based visitor visa to live with their partner in New Zealand in a genuine and stable relationship so they can apply for a partnership based work visa followed by a partnership based residence visa later.

Dependent/Child of Work Visa Holder

Children and dependents of individuals holding a New Zealand work visa can apply for a visa that allows them to live, study, and work in New Zealand. This visa enables them to work for any employer in any position while residing with their parent. The application requires proof of the family relationship, and the visa holder must meet specific requirements to ensure they are living in a genuine and stable family environment in New Zealand. The supporting partner sponsoring must be in a role meeting wage requirements that allows them to support a work visa for their partner and a student visa for their dependent child.
